Pavement Restoration of Casa Batlló
Parquets Nadal is proud to be the enterprise chosen to restore the wooden centenary floor of Casa Batlló one of the most emblematic modernist architectural works of Barcelona, world heritage, designed by Antoni Gaudí in 1904-1906.
We had to guarantee that the new floor was identical to the old one so as to preserve the architectural complex.
The new flooring, century old wood and more than 1600 tiles.
The new flooring is entirely handmade as it used to be 100 years ago in our workshop.
In order to preserve the essence of the old floor, we searched old centenary wood coming from old factories, beams, pontoons… Once we get the wood, we classified, quartered and transformed it in more than 1600 little tiles.
An installation opens to the public.
As Casa Batlló is opened all days, we had to make the installation early in the morning or at night, replacing every day the exact amount of tiles that have been removed.
The result was excellent, the new floor had the same appearance as the original one.
Wood never dies.
